*Villedieu-les-Poêles (God’s Town of the Frying Pans), a village in Northwestern France, is the French Copper capital; a centre for metalwork. So dedicated were the villagers to the hammering of copper, the town was known for a mostly deaf population. They still pride themselves on their superior craftsmanship, and items from Villedieu are sought-after by copper collectors.
